Founded in 2020, BPASL has grown from a handful of enthusiasts into Sri Lanka's most recognised paddle sports organisation.

It started simply — a group of Sri Lankan paddlers who believed their island deserved a world-class paddle sports community. No venue, no funding, just passion and a borrowed board.
From those early beach sessions, BPASL evolved into a structured association running national championships, youth development camps, and coastal events across all nine provinces of Sri Lanka.

How we got here
BPASL is founded
A small group of paddle enthusiasts formally registers the Board Paddling Association of Sri Lanka — built purely on passion.
First national championship
BPASL hosts its first official national paddle board event, drawing competitors from 5 provinces for the first time.
Youth programme launches
The BPASL Youth Training Camp gives young athletes their first structured pathway into competitive paddling.
Coastal Challenge expands
The Coastal Challenge becomes a multi-day event spanning Sri Lanka's southern and eastern coastlines.
100+ members & growing
BPASL reaches 100+ registered members across all 9 provinces and begins building international partnerships.
